Reserve Collection — Hand-Forged Cigar Draw Enhancer | Walnut & Steel
WHEN THE DRAW IS TOO TIGHT.
A hand-forged cigar draw enhancer. Hammered steel needle, carved walnut handle, leather sheath. Built to open the airway of a stubborn cigar — without damaging the wrapper.
A tight draw is not a flaw. It is a challenge.
Every cigar smoker knows the feeling. You cut the cap, you light the foot, you draw — and nothing. The tobacco is packed too tight, the binder is too thick, the draw feels like sucking through a straw. Most people give up. A cigar lover reaches for a draw enhancer. The RACWPUSE draw enhancer is a precision instrument — a hand-forged steel needle that opens the airway from within, without damaging the wrapper or wasting the cigar.
Carved walnut. One diamond at a time.
The handle is carved from a single block of North American black walnut. A master carver uses a rotary burin to cut geometric diamond patterns into the surface — each diamond 1mm deep, each angle checked against a template. The pattern is inspired by traditional woodcarving motifs found on antique pipe tools and cigar cases.
The carved surface does more than look good — it gives your fingers a secure grip, even when your hands are slightly damp from a whiskey glass. Three coats of food-safe mineral oil, buffed by hand, bring out the deep brown grain and protect the wood for years.
Precision. In a 2.5mm needle.
Hammered steel. Not smooth steel.
A smooth needle would slide through the cigar without doing anything. A hammered needle does the job — the textured surface gently separates the tobacco bundle as it enters, opening the airway without cutting the wrapper. Each hammer mark is made by hand, with a small ball-peen hammer, against a steel anvil.
The result is a needle that looks like a piece of sculpture and works like a precision tool. The hammer marks catch the light, creating a play of shadow and highlight that changes as you turn it in your hand. No two needles have the same hammer pattern.
How to save a tight cigar.
Hold the cigar in one hand, cap facing you. Take the draw enhancer in the other. Insert the needle into the center of the cap, following the axis of the cigar — not at an angle. Push gently, twisting slightly, until the needle has entered about 3cm. The hammered surface separates the tobacco bundle as it goes.
Withdraw the needle slowly. Test the draw. If still tight, repeat from the foot (the lit end), inserting the needle about 2cm. Never force the needle — if it meets resistance, twist gently and push slower. The goal is to open the airway, not to drill a hole.
When done, wipe the needle with a dry cloth, return it to the leather sheath, and enjoy your cigar. The draw should be smooth and easy — the way it was meant to be.
Numbers that matter.
Test. Insert. Draw.
Made to outlast the cigars.
— Store in the leather sheath when not in use
— Oil the walnut handle once a year with food-safe mineral oil
— Condition the leather sheath with leather conditioner every 6 months
— Carry it on the brass ring or in a pocket
— Don't insert at an angle (follow the cigar axis)
— Don't put it in the dishwasher
— Don't use abrasive cleaners on the steel or wood
— Don't use it as a poker, awl, or ice pick — it is a cigar tool
Measured. Verified.
"A tight cigar is not a bad cigar. It is a cigar that needs a little help."
